About HEIC to PNG

Last updated 2026-10-28

Why this exists

iPhones save photos as HEIC, and a lot of the world still cannot open them: Windows without extensions, most web browsers, online forms, older software. The usual fix is an online converter that uploads your private photos to a server, makes you wait in a queue, and limits how many files you can convert. HEIC to PNG does the same job on your own device: add up to 50 HEIC files and get PNG, JPG or WebP copies at full size, for free.

How it works

The page loads libheif, the open-source reference library for HEIF images, compiled to WebAssembly, and runs it in a background worker in your browser. Each file is decoded there, drawn at the size you chose and encoded as PNG, JPG or WebP. The files are never sent to our server; we could not see them even if we wanted to.

The home page explains the formats and settings, and the guide shows how to convert HEIC with the tools built into Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.

Open-source software

HEIC decoding uses libheif by struktur AG, through the libheif-js build, both under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3. Thanks to their authors and contributors.

Who runs it

HEIC to PNG is run by ITERO LTD, a company registered in the United Kingdom. It is free to use, has no accounts and shows no ads.
