Smallest files for photos. Best for sharing, email and web forms.

Lower makes smaller files. 92 looks the same as the original.

Files never leave this device: they are converted in your browser, and location and camera data are removed.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

The converter above starts in JPG mode on this page. Converting HEIC to JPG works the same on a phone or a computer:

  • Add your photos. To convert HEIC to JPG, click Choose HEIC files or drop them on the box; up to 50 at a time.
  • Set the JPG quality if you want to. The default, 92, looks identical to the original; 80 halves the file size again and is still fine for most sharing.
  • Wait a moment. Each HEIC to JPG conversion runs on your device and the list shows the result: the size in pixels and the new file size.
  • Download each JPG, or Download all as one ZIP file. On a phone, Save to Photos adds the JPGs to your photo library.

Why JPG is the safe choice for photos

JPG (also written JPEG) is the format almost every camera, phone, website and program has understood for thirty years. If someone asks you to send a photo, upload a picture to a form or attach one to an email, a JPG will work there. A HEIC file often will not: Windows needs extra extensions to show it, and Chrome, Edge and Firefox do not display it at all.

JPG is also small. A 12 MP iPhone photo converted from HEIC to JPG at quality 92 is typically 3 to 5 MB, a fraction of what a lossless copy would take. That matters for email attachments, upload limits and storage.

HEIC to JPEG or HEIC to JPG: is there a difference?

None. JPEG is the name of the standard (the Joint Photographic Experts Group), and .jpg is the three-letter file extension older versions of Windows required. A .jpg and a .jpeg file are the same format; this HEIC to JPEG converter saves .jpg, which every system recognizes.

Choosing the JPG quality

JPG is lossy: it saves space by dropping detail you are unlikely to notice. The quality slider controls how much. Higher numbers keep more detail and make larger files.

  • 92 (the default): visually the same as the HEIC. Good for keeping, printing and editing later.
  • 80 to 85: about half the size of 92, still sharp on any screen. Good for email and messaging.
  • 60 to 70: small files for web forms with tight upload limits; fine detail and smooth skies start to show compression.
  • 100: largest files with barely visible gains over 92. If you need a truly lossless copy, convert to a lossless format instead.

Batch convert HEIC to JPG

You can convert a whole album as quickly as one photo. Select up to 50 HEIC files at once; they are converted one after another in the background, so you can keep scrolling while the list fills. Download all creates one ZIP file with every JPG inside, named like the originals (IMG_0042.HEIC becomes IMG_0042.jpg).

Change the quality or the size after the batch is done and every photo is converted again with the new setting, straight from the originals in memory. There is no upload to repeat.

Your photos stay on your device

Upload-based converters need your photos on their server before they can convert them. This HEIC to JPG converter decodes each file in your browser with libheif, the open-source HEIF library, and writes the JPG there too. The photos never leave your phone or computer.

The JPG is a new file without the HEIC's EXIF metadata, so the GPS location, the date and the camera details are removed. That makes the copies safer to post or send. If you need the original date and location later, keep the HEIC.

Get JPG straight from your iPhone

If you always need JPG, you can make the iPhone shoot it: in Settings, open Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG, at roughly twice the size of HEIC. Photos you already took stay HEIC, which is what this converter is for. iPhones also convert to JPG on their own in some cases, for example when you email a photo or AirDrop it to a device that cannot read HEIC. Apple explains these options in its support article on using HEIF and HEVC media.

For every other way to convert, including Windows, Mac and Android, see the step-by-step guide: the same steps convert HEIC to JPG too.

When to convert to a lossless format instead

JPG is ideal for sharing. For editing, a lossless copy is safer because it never loses detail when saved again, and it keeps transparency. The HEIC to PNG converter on the home page uses the same tool with the lossless format selected; switching the format above does the same.

HEIC to JPG questions

Is it free to convert HEIC to JPG here?

Yes, completely. No sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit. Convert up to 50 photos at a time, as often as you like.

Will my photos be uploaded?

No. Every HEIC to JPG conversion happens in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server; see the privacy policy.

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

Slightly, as any JPG does, but at the default quality of 92 the difference is not visible. The resolution stays the same unless you choose a smaller size.

Is the EXIF data kept in the JPG?

No. The JPG is created from the pixels only, so the date, camera details and GPS location are not copied. The photo's rotation is applied to the pixels, so it still displays the right way up.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG on Windows?

Open this page in Edge or Chrome, drop the HEIC files on the converter and download the JPGs. You do not need the HEIF extensions for that; the decoder runs inside the page.

Can I convert HEIC to JPG on an iPhone without an app?

Yes. Open this page in Safari, choose photos from your library or Files, then tap Save to Photos when the list is done.
