The short version
Your photos never leave your device. They are opened, converted and saved by code running in your browser, and are never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no accounts, so we hold no profile about you.
Who we are
HEIC to PNG (heic-to-png.com) is operated by ITERO LTD, which is the data controller for the little personal data described below. Contact: support@heic-to-png.com.
Your files
When you add a file, the page reads it into your browser's memory and hands it to a background worker in the same browser. The worker decodes it with a HEIC decoder that was downloaded from this website as part of the page, and encodes the new PNG, JPG or WebP file. The download links point to your own device's memory. No request to our server or to any third party contains your files, their names or their contents, and nothing about them is logged.
The new file contains only the picture: the original's metadata (such as the date, camera details and GPS location) is not copied. When you close or reload the page, the files are gone from memory. The original files on your device are never changed.
Service providers
These providers process limited data on our behalf to run the website:
- Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host it receives standard request data (IP address, browser type, the page requested) when you load a page.
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without storing IP addresses.
- Google Analytics measures visits; it never receives your files. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it sets analytics cookies only after you allow them. Elsewhere it is on by default and you can turn it off at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Events record only counts, output formats and error types.
Cookies
The converter uses no cookies. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask before setting analytics cookies, and declining works the same as allowing. Elsewhere analytics cookies are on by default; Cookie settings at the bottom of every page turns them off. A language preference cookie may be set if you change the site language.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and US state privacy laws you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because we never receive your files and keep no accounts, there is usually nothing to access or delete. For any request, email support@heic-to-png.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
